JESUS KEPT HIS WORD

Apart from the overwhelming physical evidence that Jesus already returned around 70 AD —just as He said He would— and that He and his resurrected Saints have already completed their Millennial Reign on Earth, there is extensive and concrete scriptural evidence supporting this theory as well.

Let’s explore some verses!

First and foremost, we need to take a look at how a “generation” is described throughout the Bible…

Joel 1:3

“Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation.”

Exodus 1:6

“Then Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation.”

This scriptural evidence displays that generations were described very similarly to the way they are today…

So why then do we so commonly assume that Jesus was speaking to us regarding His second coming —a generation existing nearly 2,000 years in the future?

If Jesus returned in 70 AD, like this theory suggests He did, His second coming would’ve taken place around 40 years after starting his earthly ministry (still within the duration of a true “generation”) —which would make much more sense given the context of scripture.

Numbers 32:13

“And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation . . . was consumed.”

Deuteronomy 2:14

“And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation . . . had perished from the camp . . .”

Acts 13:36

“For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers…”

2 Kings 15:12

“This was the promise of the Lord that he gave to Jehu, ‘Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.’ And so it came to pass."

Next, let’s take a look at where scripture states that The Great Tribulation will ‘come upon’ the generation that Jesus was directly speaking to…

Luke 11:50-51

“The blood of all the prophets . . . shall be required of this generation. From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias . . . it shall be required of this generation.”

…and how this impending Apocalypse (which is to be followed by Christ’s Second Coming) is ‘near/at-hand’…

Matthew 23:35-36

“Upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth . . . verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation.”

Mark 13:33

Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.”

Revelation 1:1

“The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place.”

1 Peter 4:7

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”

Romans 13:11-12

“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”

It is also stated repeatedly that this same generation ‘will not taste death’ until Jesus returns a second time (even those who pierced Him)…

Mark 9:1

“And he said to them, ‘Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.’”

Luke 9:27

“But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

Revelation 1:7

“Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him...”

This generation was also warned that the “Abomination of Desolation” (the surrounding/destruction of the 2nd Temple by the Roman armies) is how they were to know that the time of the end had come…

Luke 21:20

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.”

Mark 13:14

“But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”

Matthew 10:23

“When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”

They were then told that their generation would ‘not pass away’ until all of those things had taken place and the end of days had fallen upon them…

Mark 13:29-30

“So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”

Matthew 24:33-34

“So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.”

Luke 21:31-32

“So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place.”

These verses are only some of the examples found throughout scripture that heavily support the “Little Season” theory —there are countless more within the Bible, as well as within the history and geography of our world.

Seek and ye shall find.

If you’ve made it this far but still aren’t convinced, there’s no pressure whatsoever to accept this theory —we know how shocking and unconventional it sounds. Our sole hope in sharing these verses is not to force our worldview upon anyone, but to have possibly piqued some interest among our brothers and sisters in Christ and inspired additional independent (scripture-centered) thinking as well as deeper dives into The Word of God and into history.

At the end of the day, however, no matter what chronology you believe in, we are all children of The Most High, and we’re all in this together.
